10 steps to independence
Joyce Meyer is my favourite female author. But I did not realize she came out with a self-improvement magazine called icon_biggrin.gif BE YOUR BEST icon_biggrin.gif

On page 26 of this absolutely beautiful magazine, I found the following words of wisdom : TEN STEPS TO INDEPENDENCE

STEP ONE :- BREAK AWAY FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S EXPECTATIONS
Don't let the people around you determine your values or behaviour patterns.

STEP TWO :- LEARN TO COPE WITH CRITICISM
No matter what you do in life, you will be criticize by someone.

STEP THREE :- DO SOMETHING OUTRAGEOUS
Do something people don't expect.

STEP FOUR :- HAVE YOUR OWN OPINION
Know what you believe and why you believe it.

STEP FIVE :- REFUSE TO PRETEND
Not being true to oneself is one of the biggest "joy thieves" that exists.

STEP SIX :- SAY "NO!" WHEN YOU NEED TO
A confident person can say "no" when they need to.

STEP SEVEN :- SPEND TIME WITH PEOPLE WHO GIVE YOU SPACE
Find friends who give you space to be yourself and to make mistakes, who respect your boundaries and encourage you in your quest to be an individual.

STEP EIGHT :- WATCH CHILDREN
Kids are the world's greatest psychiatrists because they are simply and adorably indomitable: they laugh, they cry, and they bounce back after a fall as if nothing happens.

STEP NINE :- FIGHT OFF STAGNATION
Don't just put in your time here on earth. make the world glad you are here. Whatever it takes to keep your life interesting, do it "on purpose."

STEP TEN :- WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
No matter what happens in your life, remember with God all things are possible.

icon_biggrin.gif YOU CAN LIVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND FULL LIFE
icon_biggrin.gif YOU CAN UNLOCK THE SECRET OF LASTING JOY

icon_biggrin.gif The world-shaking PRIME THE PUMP story is found on page 47 of LIVING ABOVE THE LEVEL OF MEDIOCRITY (book copyright 1987 by Charles R. Swindoll). . .

Sam and his girlfriend Michelle ventured into the desert for fun. After travelling in the hot desert for one hour they were lost, & they were really thirsty. They stumbled upon an old shack and they rested in it for half an hour.

Michelle told Sam, " I need a drink. I am so thirsty. "

Just as Michelle was going to faint from heat exhaustion and dehydration, Sam saw an old rusty water pump. He went over to it, and grabbed the handle, and began to PUMP UP AND DOWN. But nothing happened.

He went back to Michelle and told her the bad news.

SHOCKED BY THE REALITY AND HOPEPLESSNESS OF THE UNHAPPY situation, Michelle opened her eyes wide ---- and as if by a MIRACLE, she saw AN OLD JUG.

Happily she said to Sam, " There must be water in that jug! "

SAM JUMPED TO HIS FEET WITH RENEWED ENTHUSIASM, and ran to the jug. He looked at it, wiped away the dirt and dust, and read a message:
" YOU HAVE TO PRIME THE PUMP WITH ALL THE WATER IN THIS JUG. P.S.: Be sure to fill the jug again before you leave. "

Sam popped the cork out of the jug and sure enough, there was water.

JUST as Michelle was going to down all the life-giving water into her mouth, Sam said, " No, Michelle, we have to prime the pump with ALL this water! "

Michelle and Sam were faced with a decision. If they drank the water they could live. Ah, but if they poured all the water into the old rusty pump, and prime the pump, maybe it would yield fresh, cool water from down deep in the well, all the water they can enjoy.

Reluctantly they poured all the water into the pump. Then Michelle grabbed the handle and began to pump . . .

Squeak, squeak, squeak.

Still no water came out of the pump.

Squeak, squeak, squeak.

A little bit of water began to dribble out, then a small stream, and finally it gushed! Eagerly, they filled the jug and drank from it. After that, they filled the jug again and they drank the life-giving fresh water AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN . . .

Before they left the desert, they filled the jug for the next traveller. They filled it to the brim, popped the cork back, and added this little note:

" Believe me, it really works.
YOU have to give it ALL away before YOU can get ANYTHING back. "

what am I doing now?

Oh, life is too short, and with each day regarded as a BONUS, I plan to go to heaven with my beloved books.

The story of the lost son is the most amazing story in the world. And sometimes, all of us feel like the lost son. Don't know what to do icon_cry.gif .

So I am reading ROY H. HICKS's

' HE WHO LAUGHS LASTS AND LASTS AND LASTS ... '

i AM ALSO READING Ezra Bayda's SAYING YES TO LIFE, Elmer l. Towns's FASTING FOR FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGH, and

Chris Prentiss's ZEN AND THE ART OF HAPPINESS. icon_biggrin.gif

life is tremendous.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION attracts these books to me. Heeheehee! Good! icon_biggrin.gif

The LAW OF ATTRACTION really works. Try it. Make sure you read Rhonda Byrne's THE SECRET.

karma

KARMA, positive or negative, is something everyone has to cope with.

KARMA for 2008 hopefully will be good generally. We have seen quite a reversal of fortune for many a person this year. Actually it is not too bad, as it offers people the opportunity to hibernate and recoup their energy for a better future. It is said that a failure is a blessing in disguise. In 2 words, failue is just a 'WAKE-UP CALL'.

Sometimes nature slow us down because we have gone too fast in our life.

FAILUE is just a vitamin pill to help us cope with life better.

IF WE DO NOT NEED THE WARNING FROM NATURE, we may die suddenly of HEART FAILURE or we may end up with angioplasty.

Generally it is good to 'fail' sometimes, as we can take a sabbatical and regain our strength to persist again.

FAILUR is a humbling experience.

Slow and steady wins the race.

........ TONY BUZAN is a genius when it comes to HEALING, because his TEFCAS formula is useful if we use it nicely.

RECENTLY, I have been reading his book THE ULTIMATE BOOK OF MIND MAPS.

IT IS A VERY THERAPEUTIC REFERENCE BOOK ON MIND MAPPING.

HI, HERE WE ARE IN SEPTEMBER 2011. ALL OUR DEAR FRIENDS WHO WERE ACTIVE IN THIS FORUM ARE NOW HIBERNATING SOMEWHERE.

THOSE WHO WERE CLOSE TO ME MAGICALLY VAMOOSED AND DISAPPEARED INTO THIN AIR. TRULY WE ALL LIVE IN A MAGICAL WORLD. ONE SECOND HERE, THE NEXT SECOND GONE FOR GOOD. AND THAT'S GOOD, TOO.

LESSONS I LEARN FROM MY MENTORS DURING MY LIFE JOURNEY HELP ME TO EMBRACE " the art of allowing " AS TAUGHT BY ESTHER & JERRY HICKS.

RECENTLY, I REVISIRED A BOOK I HAVE NOT READ FOR YEARS (MORE THAN TEN YEARS ). Philip Yancey's WHAT'S SO AMAZING ABOUT GRACE is spot on in his dissertation on GRACE. Coupled with DR. FRED LUSKIN's book FORGIVE FOR GOOD they provide spiritual food for my soul.

I also went into a meditative posture devouring the wisdom of LEONARDO FELICE BUSCAGLIA, my beloved late teacher from America while running through Leo Buscagla's LIVING, LOVING and LEARNING.

This message is dedicated to all the great minds in the world, past and present.

NAMO AMITABHA.

MAY ALL SENTIENT BEINGS BE WELL AND HAPPY.

BE the change you want to see in the world. ( MAHATMA GANDHI )
