Lee Hung Poh

Lee Hung PohMy name is Lee Hung Poh. Some of my friends tease me and call me "Princess Hang Lee Poh" even though my life has been far from magical.

Born in 1958, I was an innocent victim of the May13, 1969 violence when I got shot through my spinal cord and became paralysed from the waist down. Through the public's generosity, I received treatment from China and eventually learned to walk with the aid of calipers and crutch.

I have primary education and tailoring skills. After finding a factory sewing job not quite to my liking, I became a hawker for fruits and drinks in Jalan Sg Besi, Kuala Lumpur.  Business was good and I eventually saved up enough money to open a sundry shop in Taman Segar, Cheras. Given the choice to live my life again, I would still choose to work very hard and enjoy the freedom of being my own boss.
