Zaleha binti Kassim Grant

It is our great pleasure to announce the inaugural Zaleha binti Kassim Grant awarded to small-scale enterprises started by the poorest and the most vulnerable members of our society.

Initiated by a generous individual, the award is a tribute to the late Zaleha binti Kassim, a courageous woman who raised 10 of her children alone in the 40’s and 50’s after her husband passed away.

The award donor told us, “To this day, I hear about the daily struggles of Puan Zaleha’s family and how everyone pitched in to help the family. I am sure there are many families right here that are doing their best to make ends meet. I would not be able to give them a lot of comfort but hope to ease their burden and to let them know they are not alone.”

Today, thanks to this caring Malaysian, we are able to honour an important sector of our society – women just like the late Puan Zaleha who are doing their best to make ends meet to provide for their families. It is the donor's hope that this contribution gives the poor some of their rights back.

It is also hoped the small amount of money can make all the difference to the recipients to earn more and protect themselves against unexpected losses and setbacks. May this grant help them take the first step towards moving from day-to-day survival into planning for the future to build productive businesses and improve the quality of their lives.

This year is only the beginning. The donor invites members of the public to join him this cause. He is not just looking for funds but also invites people to share their knowledge to make the program a success. eHomemakers is proud to be a part of this grant.
